John Q. Public declines to reveal what his IP address makes clear (as do the tenor of his comments). He's an employee in Morgenthau's office.

Apparently the first paragraph of the post upset him so much he didn't bother to read the rest otherwise he wouldn't say that I didn't understand that LIMMT was designated in 2006 and that transactions by or for LIMMT transiting the U.S. banking system would be blocked -- both of which I said. Nor does he convincingly state why the wire transactions involved falsification of business records when the wire transfers used the real names of real accounts in real banks in China.

Oh, and John Q. Public, good luck on getting any money from the Chinese on this.

Although he showed great leadership by not manipulating the system in order to avoid an obligation then incumbent upon all male citizens, it should be remembered that The King was drafted: He did not join as a publicity stunt and in fact suffered loss for doing a patriot's duty (unlike most of the rockers who followed him).

As to Mr. Morgenthau, Fred Thompson is a better trial lawyer even in the real world.

Obviously you didn't do your homework before bashing the DA of over 30years. If you did, you would have quickly realized that this investigation was related to a similar investigation that ended with a settlement from Lloyds Bank of London in the ammount of $300 million (see official press release http://manhattanda.org/whatsnew/press/2009-01-09.shtml). He then gave $175 million to the city to help with its deficit. The rest of these funds will go toward funding investigations like the one you refer to as a waste of "immense amounts of New York state funds". You are so ridiculously uniformed and ignorant of the law it pains me to correct you. You don't understand that the company, LIMMT was designated by the Treasury Dept's OFAC as a WMD proliferator in 2006. This means that LIMMT can no longer transact in US dollars, period. Any transaction made on behalf of LIMMT is a falsification of bank records. It is obvious that your knowledge of the law is limited to Judge Judy and the People's Court. Graduate to Law and Order, then start blogging Clif.

Amazing. I suppose that all of the local criminal offenses have all of the resources needed for investigation and prosecution. This is a waste of NYC taxpayer money. There must be some bad blood between the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York and Morgenthau's office. For a local DA not to involve the FBI and the Department of Commerce is tragic. The Commerce Department doesn't do much, yet this seems to be in their court. So much for the U.S. Department of Justice's Counterproliferation Initiative!
