		<description>The statement “We can no longer accept that companies established in Québec submit to foreign rules that infringe on the values and rights of citizens as recognized by the National Assembly,” coming from the Quebec Human Rights Commission, is hard to swallow for Haitians in Haiti. 

Canada fully participated in the U.S.-led economic coercion against Haiti&#039;s democratic government, of which the arms embargo was a part. Canada also played a leading role in the overthrow of Haiti&#039;s elected government in February 2004, which led to the deaths of thousands of democracy supporters- a significant infringement on the values and rights of citizens.
